Andes is a magazine published by the Centre for Pre-Columbian Studies of the University of Warsaw (OBP UW) together with the Polish Society of Latin American Studies (PTSL). It was founded in 1996 by Prof. Dr Mariusz Ziolkowski as a newsletter of the Andean Archaeological Mission (former name of the OBP UW), active alongside the Department of Historical Anthropology, Institute of Archaeology, History Department of the University of Warsaw. It focused from the start on the presentation of research results related to Andean topics. Monographic studies of research projects were also part of the series. As of 2009, the French Institute of Andean Studies (IFEA) became another co-publisher of the magazine, in step with a gradual change in its format; subsequent editions are devoted to a specific topic, featuring a wide selection of authors chosen for each volume.
